Why should I apply to be a committee member?

Kingston Hub is a really exciting place for making social impact, developing transferable skills employers are looking for and making lots of friends along the way! As part of Kingston Hub, you would be part of the Student Hubs family, made up of communities of students at universities across the UK, with staff dedicated to support you to make social change. We think that students are capable of making a real difference in their communities, and we're here to support you to be the world changers you could be.

So whether you're really passionate about a certain topic, or don't have a specific issue in mind but want to get stuck into making a difference and trying something new, there's a position for you. You'll be fully trained and supported in your role by our team of dedicated staff.

What are the next steps?

  1. Fill in the application form telling us why you’d like to be involved, what you bring to the role and what you would like to be involved in. The deadline for applications is 15th of May.
  2. We’ll be in touch to arrange an online meeting to explore your interest further.
  3. You will be invited to an informal interview with us.
  4. At interview we’ll have a chance to meet you and discuss what role you could play on the committee.
  5. If you’re successful your induction will take place after exams in June. We’ll then spend the next few months working with you to plan your role and project and give you all the training you need to be successful in the role.
  6. You’ll start implementing your project in September 2022 when the new academic year starts.

Committee responsibilities

  • Attend weekly committee meetings.
  • Attend Hub events as required and be prepared to lend a hand to other committee members if asked.
  • Work as a team to create and run a start up projects.
  • Be an Ambassador for Kingston Hub.
  • Provide logistical support at University Fair’s and other projects as required.
  • Prepare a handover document for the role.
  • Support Kingston Hub’s fundraising efforts.
  • Liaise with Hub staff regularly.
  • Help with publicity including, but not confined to, maximising outreach of Facebook events and leafleting.
