Join young people with learning disabilities in creating a virtual drama project; ‘Ubuntu the Lion’. It will involve attending a series of online sessions including training workshops.
June - August
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join young people with severe and complex learning disabilities from Dysart School and participate in Phase 2 of our virtual drama project: ‘UBUNTU the Lion’. Kingston University will collaborate with University of East Anglia, City University along with StoryAid and a contemporary artist. Our project offers invaluable experiences in learning from each other in a fun and creative way.
Following this, there will be 6 virtual drama sessions on a weekly basis starting Tuesday 22nd June:4.30-6.30pm. University students and pupils from Dysart School will come together to create an inclusive group representation of a story about a lion who is ‘different’ from others. The sessions will incorporate art as a fun, creative experience with reflections allowing applications to clinical practice. We hope to include and pilot an accessible APP, allowing better interaction and promoting sustainability in healthcare.
There are additional Volunteer Training / Sensory Trail Event Days at Ham House (Final Details TBC) - Tues 3rd Aug - Tues 10th Aug
Parents feedback during and post Phase 1 of the drama project: “We looked forward to it every week.”...“You slotted into our world, rather than we slotted into yours.” Student nurse feedback during and post Phase 1 of the drama project: “I now feel proud and more skilled”... “Everyone was committed and because we all had the same goal, the sessions felt energetic and positive.”
